PDiF likes MoM!

Courtesy of Mr Hughes, a review of At the Molehills of Madness has surfaced on the Asimov's website, written by Paul DiFilippo – you'll have scroll down a little, but it's worth it!

If you crossed Franz Kafka with Thomas Ligotti and Warren Ellis—well, you’d be one sick puppy. But the result might be Rhys Hughes. [He] has the courage of his convictions, and the talent to bring it all off.

What are you waiting for? Order a copy…

It's been a little while, but a couple of things have happened:

The Reef was reviewed in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago – which is terrific news:

"Newton treads new ground in his attempt to bring literary concerns to the fantasy genre. The result is a sometimes uneven path between fantastical exoticism and the more mundane aspects of the mainstream, but a path nevertheless worth taking."

It continues to sell well at Waterstones (though I presume so since the wholesaler, Gardners, sends me new orders practically every day…)

No-Man and Other Tales has also been reviewed at Zone-SF, and again it is rather splendid:

"… living proof that Richards is getting better and better as a storyteller and a creator of well carved characters. Which is good news not only for the fans of novellas but for any lover of solid and entertaining dark fiction."

Copies still available, and you know where to buy a copy of either – or both. :)

… and it's a damn good one, courtesy of review-blogger, Graeme.

Not only does it pass the "train journey test" but it's also "a more than worthy debut from an author that I'll be looking out for in the future…"

I've been reliably informed that copies are on the shelves in Waterstones' stores, but if you'd like a signed copy (of which there are only a handful left) then buy it now.

Or soon.

Just a quick message to say that I shall be in York tomorrow for the British Fantasy Open Night – imbibing a few beers, and listening intently to a few well-told ghost stories (and not falling asleep, hopefully.)

Also, a new review has surfaced for New Writings in the Fantastic.

In other news, The Reef has been booked into the printer's schedule… woo-hoo; juust need to pay for it now.

In the current issue of Death Ray magazine, with an indepth appraisal of each individual story: some good, some excellent, some not-so.

Why not buy a copy and make up your own mind?

In addition to this, I've decided to say yes and publish New Writings in the Fantastic II (edited by David Hutchison). Table of contents to be finalised, but projected publication: mid-2009.

Lee Harris of Hub Magazine specifically tells you to "Buy it!" in the current issue, whereas Mario Guslandi gives a more personal appreciation of several of the stories here.
